Samantha_Pic.jpgI was introduced to Chiropractic when becoming part of the team at Walsh Family Chiropractic in early 2007. I was very excited to begin receiving care because I was suffering with constant severe back pain through my neck, mid back and low back resulting from of a severe horse accident I suffered eight months earlier.

As I began receiving care, I learned that the problems in my back were causing other problems in my body.  For two months after my horse accident I was plagued digestive issues. I had become very ill and found that eating almost always made me very sick. In the beginning I was sick with what I thought was just a virus. After about four weeks, I decided that I need to see a professional as my weight was dropping very fast. After meeting with the Primary Care physician, I was terrified. He said that he thinks I could have Crohns Disease and I needed to meet with a specialist. I delayed making the appointment finding excuse after excuse. Eventually my body found away to function, though I still carried the severe back pain. I eventually became use to it.

I began receiving treatment from Dr. Walsh in April of 2007. Within two months most of all of my pain was gone. I felt healthier and had so much more energy. Being a Chiropractic patient has allowed me to better understand my body, what it needs to stay healthy, and what I can do to stay healthy without the intervention of medication and medical doctors random diagnosis.

I would like to say to those who are considering receiving Chiropractic care, "go for it."  If you are someone who prefers to stay off medications and allow your body to function naturally at its best, then make an appointment and educate yourself. Chiropractic is not a quick fix it takes a little time and commitment undo often years of stress. In the long run, you will find it is what is naturally best for the body.

Barbara_Pic.jpgI guess being a little accident prone has lead me to seek Chiropractic care.  As a teenager, I experienced my first broken tailbone.  Anyone who has had this experience knows the pain involved and how long it takes to recover.  Of course, back in those days, you didn’t go see a doctor unless it was absolutely necessary, so my body was allowed to “heal” on its own.  A few years later I was in a serious bicycle accident.  Being in the military at the time, they treated my broken elbow, damaged hand, and scraped face, but no attention was paid to a possible back injury.

Many years passed and I broke my tailbone again.  Since Chiropractors did not serve in the military in the 1990’s, again my body was not checked for any possible spinal damage.  It wasn’t until I retired from the military that my body started to feel like it had been beat up.  My new job required me to travel by plane about every other week.  Sitting in coach is not good for the back; especially for long periods of time.  I started to experience severe sciatica and was absolutely miserable.  Since I worked in Hampton, I was able to find a Chiropractor close to work.  After several adjustments, I started down my road to recovery.  Unfortunately, I lost my contracting job and my Chiropractor moved up north.

About a year later, I suffered a nasty blow to my head.  I was so concerned about the huge lump on the side of my head that I didn’t even notice the pain in my neck.  Three weeks later the lump was gone but I was unable to move my neck without experiencing severe pain.  My boss at the time referred me to Dr. Walsh.  Dr. Walsh has made a world of difference in my recovery.  I’m very “picky” about my health care.  I refuse to take medication of any kind (including over-the-counter) because I believe that the body is designed to heal itself.  Chiropractic care helps my body through the healing process.

I was fortunate in October 2008 to join the Walsh Family Chiropractic team.  I will never again go more than a couple of weeks without an adjustment.  I’ve also learned a few other things over the past several years.  I try to eat healthy, get enough exercise, keep a positive attitude, stay away from bicycles, and, if I fall, try not to land on my tailbone.  But if I do, I know a great Chiropractor!

Kirstie_Pic.jpgI first became interested in Chiropractic care when my father first started to complain about his back. Ever since then I’ve wanted to find ways that could help him and others feel better.

As a senior at Jamestown High School, I was able to join S.T.E.P. (Student Transitional Education Program). The program helps prepare young adults, such as myself, for future career paths in a “real world” setting. The STEP program requires students to get a job and experience some of the career paths they are interested in. I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to try Chiropractic. This is how I was first introduced to Dr. Walsh.

I began with Walsh Family Chiropractic in the Fall of 2009. Dr. Walsh insisted I become a patient as well. He said, “There is no better way to learn about the profession than to become a patient.” I was more than happy to do so.  After the first couple weeks of adjustments and exercise, I experienced more energy and felt healthier.

Working here has been a great privilege and has changed my life completely. I have learned many things that could help with my future career as a possible Chiropractor. I encourage anyone trying to have a healthier outlook on life, to try Chiropractic Care. I am glad to be a part of the Walsh Family Chiropractic Team.
